I met Matthew Warner recently when he gave a presentation during my botany class on Live/Raw foods at Raritan Valley Community College. The presentation had a tremendous impact on the class. It made so much sense that we wondered why more people aren’t aware of this type of diet or eating. I investigated raw/live foods on my own with special attention to Green Smoothies. These green smoothies as Matt explained, were important for your digestive system because our bodies are so used to eating processed foods that they don’t really know how to break down raw food so well anymore. I decided to try Matt’s green smoothie plan, and I was pleasantly surprised. I am a very picky eater and each one was more delicious than the next. And the health benefits were immediate. I noticed I didn’t want to drink coffee anymore because I didn’t have that tired feeling. Parts of my body that were aching or sore began to feel better. And most importantly I began to lose weight (15 pounds so far). My skin looks better, and I just have a different attitude about what goes into my body. Don’t get me wrong, this is not hundred percent reformation, I still eat some things that are bad for me and that make me feel weighed down and sluggish now and then, but my desire has diminished and I feel so much better for it, knowing that I am getting the critical required servings of fruit and green vegetables on a daily basis. My diet is now at least 50% raw food, but it grows a little more each week.
